When we think St. Patrick’s Day, the color green comes to mind immediately, of course. That’s followed by shamrocks, leprechauns, green beer, and, if you hail from Chicago, a postcard-perfect green river. Admittedly, “nautical” mostly likely doesn’t even make the top 50 (although Chicago + River… that’s nautical, yes?).
But this is a nautical blog, and St. Patrick’s Day will come, whether we celebrate it or not — nautical or not.
So we set out to find all manner of things nautical that were also green, just for fun (and something to write about relative to St. Pat’s Day, if we’re being honest). Low and behold, there were many more green and nautical objects than we imaged! Here are the top 6 unexpected nautically green things we found around the InterWebs.
Kelly Green Nautical Switch Plate
Unbeknownst to us, as non-lovers of things green, kelly green + nautical = baby nursery. Who knew? You can find this switch plate here, or, if you’re finding our Ship’s Blog at a time when that listing is no longer available, here‘s Cathy’s Crafty Covers storefront. (We’re not affiliated; we just like Cathy’s light switch cover. 🙂 )
Kelly Green Nautical Cleat
This green boat cleat is intended to be used as a … drumroll, please … towel holder! We thought that was a pretty clever idea. As of this writing, Rob’s Rustics offers them in several colors, as well as other home goods you may like, so if St. Patrick’s green isn’t your thing, but you love this idea for your nautical kitchen, bathroom, or other nautically themed room, look him up here. (Again, we’re not affiliated; we just like Rob’s Cleats!)
Green & Blue Clutch
This clutch purse is as unexpected as it is (admittedly) adorable! This is where we got distracted (boy, that was easy!), and instead of finishing this post, we went shopping. First, it was just a quick outfit. Then it was matching jewelry. Then it was a nice … you get the idea. 🙂 You can see our final selections at the end of this post (as well as a link to purchase this cute handbag), if you’re in the market for a little something nautical that’ll take you right into St. Pat’s Day!
Sperry™ Deck Shoes
Did you know this? We had no idea Sperry™ offered a blue and green Top-Sider™ deck shoe. Perfect for St. Patrick’s Day, right? Need to own them? Click here.
Perhaps this is a good time to point out that green isn’t our favorite color. Unless it’s found in nature. Then we love green. A lot. 🙂 That said, for all we know this may well be one of their best-selling colors in what we know is one of their best-selling styles.
Two Chartreuse Octopuses
Did we say chartreuse octopus? Why, yes, we did! While we had the most fun shopping for an outfit to match the green and blue handmade clutch, we’re pretty sure these two are our favorite green and nautical items of our expedition.
This first octopus serves as both a decor accent and a hook for various things. We suppose you could hang anything from your keys to your robe on it’s tentacles. It’s a genius piece of art by BOLDHOUSE, and you can purchase it here.
The second serves as both fun and then, with a little glue and a picture frame (chartreuse too?), also as art. It’s a lime green jigsaw puzzle offered by Evey Art Store. Interested in a little green octopus fun for St. Patrick’s Day? You can buy this jigsaw puzzle here.

Here’s our finished blue and green nautical look. What do you think? We weren’t too sure, at first, but the more we look, the more we like! (Click any of the thumbnails to view or purchase those pieces. They’re all affiliate links, except the Etsy link.)

Although not exactly nautical in nature, we really like the neat green and blue botanical poster we used as a background to our nautical outfit collage. It’s by RemioniArt, and you can purchase it here.
Happy St. Patrick’s Day, everyone! Cheers, and don’t forget your designated driver!
