Why Do We Love Doing “Mock-ups”?
So we were crushing on this nautical whale wall art panel and really wanted to do something fun with it. Oh no — not for the Ship’s Blog. We wanted it here. In our house. It’s so cool, right? Well that would’ve been all fine, and well, and good, except there’s no room on our walls. Between nature photography (see our sister site, Nature’s Folio) and family photos, there’s just… No. Room.
So we did a virtual room make-over instead! Are you familiar with The Sims series of video games? Yeah, that! We just loved that game in our house. To the point that we could easily never get another thing done in really life. 😉 And that’s why we’ve been known to do some pretty extensive virtual decorating using our mock-up tools. Our Baltimore Coastal Bedroom is a great example — it was all done virtually!
This was actually pretty tame in comparison. We have this orange room photo {purchased with a standard license; if you’re going to try this at home, please respected copyrights!} and decided it needed a little nautical pick-me-up. Ah ha! This beloved nautical whale wall art panel was going to go perfectly on this wall. But we couldn’t stop there… so we added the matching crab wall art panel and the fish wall art. Then we threw a couple of pillows on the bed — coral and crab throw pillow and coral and starfish throw pillow.
And voila! It’s a masterpiece, right? It just goes to show that sometimes a room doesn’t need a complete make-over (virtual or real!), and that some new, fresh wall art and a few throw pillows can change the look of a room.
