Description

The Yachtsman is a golden glycerin soap which gives a silky and luxurious lather. It’s manly sophistication in a soap bar, but women are drawn to it, as well. The base hemp seed oil soap contains 5 percent hemp seed oil, and that’s what gives The Yachtsman it’s silky feel. The scent of bergamot, patchouli, cedarwood, and a hint of vanilla bourban combine to evoke days of relaxing on mahogany decks in a cool summer breeze.

The hemp seed oil and glycerin work as a team to cleanse and are known for their moisturizing qualities. Together, they make for a soothing bathing experience.

Note: As in many men’s products, we scent this soap a little more strongly than some of our other soaping products. If you love The Yachtsman, but the scent is stronger than you like, we do take custom orders. We’re happy to make you a “Yachtsman Light” edition with less fragrance or even a different base soap and less fragrance. Just get in touch with us!

THE SCENT: This mahogany-like scent was selected to lead our masculine scented soaps, and that, it does — smashingly. We’ve found, however, that women are drawn to it, as well. It’s deep, rich, and luxurious.

THE SOAP: Our hemp seed oil base soap is golden in color, silky in texture, and abundant in lather.

THE PAIRING: When deep, rich, and luxurious combine with golden, silky, and abundant to create an exceptional cleansing experience, we call it the perfect pairing that is The Yachtsman soap. In our focus group, both men and women loved this scent and described it as “rich.”

This soap contains glycerin, an organic compound and humectant, meaning it attracts moisture — a benefit to your skin. After use, you may notice tiny spots of moisture on the soap itself. This is perfectly normal and just means the glycerin is doing its job. Soap with glycerin moisture spots is safe to use.

About Soap

Are You Concerned About Sodium Hydroxide (aka Lye)?

All soap is made with sodium hydroxide also known by the common name “lye” — which, alone, is a caustic substance about which you may have read. Without lye, oils, additives, and water are just sludge (for which you’d want SOAP to clean up!). Without the oils, lye can be dangerous if not properly handled. During the “saponification” process (the making of soap), a chemical reaction between oils and the lye results in a product which is skin safe. Indeed, this saponification creates the product which cleanses! So don’t be afraid to see it in the ingredients list — here or anywhere. In fact, you should be concerned only if someone claims to have made soap which doesn’t contain sodium hydroxide.

Are You Concerned About Animal Testing?

The first recorded use of soap is by the ancient Babylons in 2800 BC. Since that time, we’re pretty sure someone has tested every ingredient in our soaps on animals. But we don’t — and won’t ever — test on animals — nor will we purchase our ingredients from those who do. That’s a promise.
