Description

From top to bottom, our Spiced Rum bar of honey soap is rich, rich, and rich — rich in color, rich in scent, and rich in foam. Did we mention that it’s rich? The scent mingles earthiness and sweetness in a deep way which lingers, but doesn’t overpower the senses, and offers … well … a rich soaping experience. We really don’t know a better word to describe it!

Honey is rich (there’s that word again!) in antioxidants and has many qualities your skin is going to love (but that FDA hasn’t approved us saying), while you’re going to love its thick lather and just how incredibly cleansing it is without drying.

Soap & Scent Pairing

THE SCENT: We honestly had no plans for this particular scent — but we must have a close encounter with any scent which has the word “rum” in it. 😉 From first waft, we just loved the way earthy and sweet notes mingleD. It’s a deep, rich gender-neutral scent.

THE SOAP: Our honey soap base is rich in its own right, with a thick lather, deep honey color, and subtle sweetness.

THE PAIRING: The scent is lingering, but not overpowering, and it’s depth made us envision a thick and lathery bathing experience. That, combined with honey’s sweet side and golden color made this a perfect pairing and Spiced Rum is the end result. The most common expression in our focus group was “Oooooh!” 🙂

About Soap

Are You Concerned About Sodium Hydroxide (aka Lye)?

All soap is made with sodium hydroxide also known by the common name “lye” — which, alone, is a caustic substance about which you may have read. Without lye, oils, additives, and water are just sludge (for which you’d want SOAP to clean up!). Without the oils, lye can be dangerous if not properly handled. During the “saponification” process (the making of soap), a chemical reaction between oils and the lye results in a product which is skin safe. Indeed, this saponification creates the product which cleanses! So don’t be afraid to see it in the ingredients list — here or anywhere. In fact, you should be concerned only if someone claims to have made soap which doesn’t contain sodium hydroxide.

Are You Concerned About Animal Testing?

The first recorded use of soap is by the ancient Babylons in 2800 BC. Since that time, we’re pretty sure someone has tested every ingredient in our soaps on animals. But we don’t — and won’t ever — test on animals — nor will we purchase our ingredients from those who do. That’s a promise.
